Texarkana - "Twice as Nice"

In order to do any shopping shopping we have to travel somewhere. There is not much around here for us.  No malls, target, sams, costco, etc.  Super walmart is pretty much it!  Anyway, the closest places are a little over an hour away.  We went to Longview awhile back and decided to head out to Texarkana this past weekend.  They have a "unique" post office because it sits right on the border of Texas and Arkansas. It has two different zip codes. The city's motto is "Twice as Nice". They have two of everything since it's in two different states. 

So we made our way out and went downtown so we could take our pictures on the border line.  The kids were not in the mood for it. All they wanted to do was run around. So needless to say there weren't many pictures taken.  It wasn't as special as I thought it would be.  But then again I honestly didn't know what to expect. 

When we went to go do a little shopping we got a bit lost. We knew where we were it was just a little confusing trying to get to our destination.  So that made up Todd's vote on where he'll go next time.  The downer for me about the whole thing, there was no Super Target, just Target. Sad I know.  Longview, Tx beats out Texarkana.  It was a nice little family trip though.  We enjoyed our little memorial day outing.

Silly Faces

For some reason Everett now believes that a normal face is a silly face.  Anytime I try and get a good picture of him he'll give me his silly face.  Almost every time I can count on it.  There are even times I try to catch him in action, but he catches me first and immediately goes and does the silly face.  He has even gotten his sister to join in and of course when he goes to takes pictures mom has to make the silly face too!

PLaying in the Rain

We got a pretty good down pour today.  The kids were first just sitting and watching it, but I kept trying to get Everett to run out in it.  He honestly had no desire.  He told me it scared him.  After a few minutes his fear left him and decided to give it a try and of course, like always, his little sister followed suit.  They had so much fun and got pretty wet by the end.

Fat Lip

We were at my parents house this week and Jacquelyn got her first fat lip.  I think it's actually the first fat lip we've had in our family.  Well the kids at least.  Her and Everett were playing and she ended up falling off the trunk of a tree (it was not very tall by the way).  I'm still not sure if it was an accident, but none the less she got a pretty good fat lip.  By the time I got to her it was already purple and blue. Her gums were bleeding.  Luckily nothing too bad happened.  We of course had to get some ice which calmed her down pretty quickly.  Since she had ice Everett needed some too and of course they both needed pictures taken.  She even smiled for me. I didn't think I would get it, but I did.

First Trip to the Dentist

Everett had his first experience at the dentist today.  He was not excited to go at all.  He complained the whole way up there and as we were walking in.  But needless to say the minute he walked in things started to change.  In the waiting room they have a whole bunch of games to play with. As we were walking back he was getting all uneasy again.  As soon as they put him in the chair on showed him the tv on the ceiling he was hooked!  You could just see him easing up the whole time.  Once he was done he bragged about the whole experience.  IT was quite comical.  He even got a new shirt and had to wear it to bed.
