"Sit On My Belly Jacquelyn"

This afternoon I was particularly tired.  We had been home for a little bit, and I just decided to lay on the floor.  You'd think this would sign to the kids "mom's tired lets leave her alone" rather to them it means "wohooo! Let jump on her".  And that is exactly what my kids decided to do.  There's was jumping, pinching the nose, tickling.  You name it.  To try and distract them I told Jacquelyn she should sit on Everett's belly.  I knew this could either turn out in my favor, or go horribly.  Once I said this Everett starts yelling "sit on my belly Jacquelyn."  Surprisingly enough she did. It was pretty cute.  She got right up and sat on him.  Lucky for me it entertained them for a good amount of time.  Enough so that I had to document it.  She would tickle him.  She was quite fascinated by his belly button and would poke at.

The tables were turned through their playing.  At first it sounded like Jacquelyn was crying, but when I went to help she was laughing! Although it didn't last for too long.

Drive In

Everett created a little drive in for his cars yesterday:

Apparently he thought they needed to watch the movie with him!

Starting Them Out Young

We went on a walk yesterday and when we got back Todd was mowing the lawn.  Everett was just walking around when Todd yelled for him to come help. Everett never misses an opportunity to do what his dad is doing.

Homegrown Watermelon

This is our first year having our very own garden.  It has been pretty exciting!  Last year we had one on our little balcony, but our herbs were the only things that really grew.  This year pretty much everything has grown except for the herbs!  We've gotten lots of zucchini, cucumbers, cilantro, spinach, broccoli, carrots, onions, and bell peppers.  Our corn is still going and we are waiting for our tomatoes to turn red.  Hopefully it happens before it starts getting too cold!  We also planted honeydew, watermelon, and cantaloup.  We honestly didn't think we would get anything out of those three.  They were taking too long to actually start producing anything.  As luck would have it we started getting watermelon and honeydew! It was a pretty exciting day when Todd noticed those.  We have 4 watermelon and 3 honeydew.  The cantaloupe finally started to grow and we have seen some actual cantaloup, but unfortunately we most likely wont get anything from it.

Todd has been researching how to tell when our melons are ready to pick.  We've been going out lots just to check.  The other day one of the watermelons looked like it was ready.  Everything that was suppose to die around the melon had died.  It was one of the smaller ones, but Todd decided to pick it to see, and if it wasn't ready at least it was the small one and not one of our big ones!  Everett was ecstatic.  Seriously we have been waiting and waiting for these watermelons.

As I was going to try mine Everett noticed I still had a bunch of seeds and kept telling.  So he had to help me out a little.
I tried it once again, but he still saw seeds!  He finally just fave up and joined me.
Jacquelyn LOVES watermelon.  We kept giving her little pieces and then finally decided to give her a big piece.  She was in heaven.
Our watermelon festivities were causing quit the mess in our kitchen so we headed outside.

Jacquelyn's watermelon fell so we took it and threw it.  She was not too thrilled.  She even tried to steal Everett's!  We got the follow scene until Todd came back with another piece.
The minute Todd walked out she was her sweet little self again!
We LOVE our watermelon.  We are already waiting for the other 3 to be ready.  It has been so much fun having our garden.  Todd is already planning for next year.  For our first year we have done pretty good. We've learned plenty of lessons and new tips and tricks.

2012 East Idaho State Fair

The fair crept up on me this year.  I couldn't believe it was already September! We have been going the past couple years and decided last minute that we had to go again.  With Todd graduating in December we're not quite sure what the future has in store for us, so we've been making sure we try and do things for the possibly the last time.  So we of course couldn't skip out this year!

We started with our usual funnel cake before we took our walk around.  They set up the food court perfectly so when you try to get to everything else you have to go through and see all the different fair foods.  After eating our funnel cake our eyes caught the fried cheese curds and we couldn't pass the up!  They weren't my favorite, but Todd loved them.  Until they started to really settle in his stomach later :)

After our food grazing we walked the all the animals that are there for competition. This is Everett's favorite part.  He got so excited and would just start laughing.
The sheep were pretty friendly, but a little too friendly for Jack.  One started to try and lick her.  The moment she saw the sheep's head stick through the gate she couldn't contain herself.  Needless to say we quickly moved on.
Next up was the petting zoo.  Of course another favorite of Everett's.  This yes Ms. Jack got to get out and enjoy the fun.  Apparently walking through the petting zoo was ok for her unlike walking through the arena of animals!

We had such a good time.  Despite the drive it's always worth going.  Especially seeing Everett with all those animals!
