Fun with Grammy & Grandpa

When family comes to visit it always makes me wish we lived closer. I probably sound like a broken record, but it's nice being able to spend time with them. My parents took the opportunity to come up for Christmas and how grateful we are that they did! When then first got here Everett really didn't want anything to do with them. It was kinda sad/funny. He saw them and then went and hid behind me. I don't know if he thinks they're going to take them away or what. But that's kinda why I wished we lived closer so he'd get to see family more often and not be so afraid!

Of course he began to warm up to them. We spent the week shopping, hanging out, snacking, and playing. Everett LOVED Grandpa. He'd have him read books to him. He know Grandpa was the one to be by whenever we went shopping. He gained a nice little sleeping companion with Grammy. They slept in the same room as him and one night Everett didn't want to stay in the crib, so Grammy went out and snuggled with him on the couch. They became quite good friends.

After we said goodbye and saw them off we came home and asked Everett "where's Grammy?" Normally when we ask him this he looks at the computer cause we Skype with them every week. He knows that's where we talk to Grammy. Well this time he puts his hands up and starts looking around. It dawned on him that they weren't there anymore! It was pretty cute.

Merry Christmas!!

We had a great Christmas this year. It was our first Christmas as a married couple to spend it at our place! My parents came up to visit to celebrate and we had a blast. When they first got here Everett was not to fond of them, but sure enough by the time they left things were different. We were able to spend time hanging out and shopping a little. Christmas Eve we enjoyed a little Mexican meal with tamales and tacos. Everett was able to open his Christmas pajamas and then it was time to get ready for Christmas morning.

Grandpa Rudolph

Christmas morning Everett walked around the living room not really realizing what was under the tree. It wasn't until he spotted his present from Grammy and Grandpa. It was a little big and wrapped in garbage bags! It was a buzz lightyear power wheels. He first kept trying to press the buttons on buzz, but when we showed him what you were really suppose to do with it he got freaked out! We told him to press a button and he just started moving! For a couple days he really wouldn't get close to it. We took him out with my parents he played for a few minutes, but we're slowly starting to get him use to it. I'm sure once summer comes around and he can actually play with it outside he'll love it.

The rest of the morning we were all able to open the rest of our presents. Everett got lots of new clothes, books, and toys. Todd was given lots of new camping stuff, clothes, and tools. He's pretty excited for the summer when he can use all of his new things. I was able to get a new sewing case. My other had gotten way too small! Things to get me started with crocheting, a Christus Statue, and also some new clothes! We were pretty spoiled this year and are grateful for everything we were given.

It was fun to spend the holidays with family. We enjoyed having my parents here and were sad to see them go, but I'm sure they were ready to get back to the nice warm Texas weather!

Meeting Santa

Everett first met Santa last year. He was only 4 months old, so he didn't really care one way or another if he sat on his lap or not. This year was a little different. We went to our Ward Christmas party in anticipation of what Everett will think. We waited in line and he was totally fine, but the moment we sat him down on Santa's lap he was not happy! I think it was more of that we left him with someone and not cause of who it actually was. I tried to get him to smile to take a picture and he looked at me for like a split second! Maybe next year will be a little different.

Dallas Trip

This past week we had the opportunity to go home for my brother's wedding. We had a blast as usual. This trip was a little more hectic then our usual trips, but fun none the less. Our first night there, Everett was able to have a sleepover with his cousin Porter. My mom bought them matching pajamas. Porter kept saying they had dog shoes on.

We went shopping and of course had to make a trip to McDonald's so Porter could play with Everett on the playground! Everett kinda liked it in the beginning, but by the time we got up into the tubes he was not quite so fond of it!

The rest of our week was filled with getting everything ready for the wedding. Everett went and had his first "big boy" haircut. He got to go with the boys and get their hair cut for the wedding.

I had the opportunity to make their wedding cake. I was very honored, but nervous. I just wanted it to be perfect. They had decided they wanted a cupcake wedding cake and cake balls for the grooms cake. I think everything turned out pretty nice! The wedding was of course beautiful. JOrdan made a beautiful bride and we're so happy to have her as part of our family now! Unfortunately I took pretty much no pictures of the wedding or reception to show for everything.

After things wound down we were able to enjoy a few days of just haning out with family and relaxing!

Dad's Little Helper

As I've mentioned before Everett is our little helper. He helps with the dishwasher, put his diapers in the trash, cleaning the kitchen floor. He's pretty cute when he does everything even when some of those times he really creates more work! That's really only with the dishwasher. He LOVES taking the dishes out even when you're trying to put them in.

A couple weeks ago we bought a new TV stand for our bedroom. When Todd went to put it together he of course had his little helper right next to him. He wanted everything Todd had. So of course he'd try and steal his screwdriver. We got him his own, but every time Todd put his tool down Everett would go swipe it.

Ward Trunk or Treat

Todd and I have had in mind what we wanted to dress Everett up for Halloween for a whole year! Todd came up with the idea last year, but we just never went with it. Everett was born with a lot of hair and has always had a decent amount so we thought this idea would be perfect.

A little before the trunk or treat Todd started getting Everett all ready.

When we were all done Everett became our very own little Alfala!

Photobucket

We thought he was prefect. I was afraid no one would really recognize who he was, but to my surprise everyone did. Everett of course loved all the attention. We tried showing him how to get candy but he would just run down the parking lot. After a little of running around we finally took him by the hand and showed how people give him candy and then he puts it in his bag.

By the end he became quite the pro and would do it by himself!

Pumpkin Patch

A couple weekends ago Todd and I decided to head out to a little pumpkin patch down in Idaho Falls. Last year our pumpkin patch was a huge let down. Luckily this year we found a place that was a big hit and pretty popular. We got there the weekend before Haloween so things were a little picked over, but we were still able to find us a few pumpkins to carve. I thought I'd try to get some good pictures of Everett, but he was not into taking pictures at all. I honestly don't know what was wrong. If there was too many people or what. Luckily towards the end he started warming up!

A few days later we were able to finally carve our pumpkins. Todd was doing a spider and I was carving an owl. After I realized I hadn't bought any candles for them. So i decided I'd head to the store the next day then we'd put them on the porch and I'd get some pictures. Sadly enough I kept forgetting until we noticed they had already started to mold. We had fun even without taking pictures!

Big Helper

Everett has become such a big helper! As he's grown it's been interesting to see what he picks up on. He knows when I open the dishwasher and automatically comes over. Although he doesn't quite help put stuff in (he loves taking everything out playing with them!) he's great at closing the door. Once I say "ok we're done, close", he goes to the end and closes the door! We can give him trash now and tell him to put in the trash and he goes and puts it in the trash can! He's especially great with throwing away his own diapers. He's been trying to put his own and shoes and socks on but hasn't got that down quite yet. We are loving watching him grow and learning new things!

Idaho State Fair

Labor Day weekend has been a pretty fun and exciting weekend. After our little camp out we decided that since we didn't have work on Monday we'd head down to the Idaho State Fair. The weather ended up being just perfect! We got our tickets and ended up walking right into the food court. Bad idea! When we went to the Madison County Fair I was really looking forward to a funnel cake, but unfortunately they had none. As we were looking at all the places we could eat later for lunch I saw a funnel cake stand! To my excitement Todd suggested we might as well get one before we walk around! It was delicious. A little different then what I've normally had, but delicious none the less.

After eating we went and walked through and saw all the animals that were there for competitions. We saw tons of cows, horses, sheep, ponies, everything! They even had an exhibit with just rabbits. After seeing the big animals we went and walked though the petting zoo. They had goats just free roaming that would come and try and steal the food we had for them. When we decided we had enough of the animals we walked through and enjoyed the other exhibits. After eating lunch and enjoying our fun day we decided to head on home!
