New Couches

Well, Todd and I finally got some furniture in our living room! I'm so excited. We were able to get a couch and love seat set. They're not the prettiest things, but they're nice. Todd said I could get them if they were comfortable and clean. And that they are. He says they're ugly, but whatever. It's hard to find used furniture that you like. You cannot be picky at all. Most of the ones we've seen have been either way old, or just gross. These ones are nice though. Hopefully someday they might be able to have a slip cover, but we'll see. I'm not sure if they'd fit anyway.

I do have to admit that these are a lot better than the couch we had in Denver. I bought it from the thrift store for $25!! I loved it. It was the best looking couch I've seen at a thrift store. My rooommate, and I, went to buy it for $50 and the day we went it, it was half off!! I wanted to keep it for when I had a daughter and she could have it when she was going to college. But unfortunately it got returned to the Salvation Army. Well, I guess unfortunately for me, but someone else got lucky. Many may not think so, but I do. We couldn't bring it with us, so we gave it away. Honestly, I loved that couch, but I guess you just have to let go of some things.

I never realized how much I missed having a couch until tonight. The people we bought them from delivered them around 5 and we have been lounging on them all night. It's nice to just lay down and watch a TV show and your rear end doesn't go numb. Camping chairs are nice for camping, but to live in, not so great. They've already made the apartment feel more "homey". At least I think so. Now we can start to find stuff to put on the walls. That's my next goal for the apartment.

(these pictures are from the people's garage. We might have some of them in our apartment later.)

More Hiking Pictures

I didn't put up some of our hiking pictures and then decided I wanted to. So here's some extra!

The scenery was beautiful. Hopefully we can get back some time later this summer when more of the plants are alive.

This is some weird looking worm we found. You can't see it very well. Todd called it an albino worm. It was kind of gray, almost translucent with pink stripes.

Memorial Day Weekend

Todd and I had a pretty good weekend. On Friday we started out by making some Canadian Bacon & Pineapple Pizza and watched the movie Mad Money. It's a lot better than I expected it to be. I kinda wanted to see it, but when it was the only new movie at Redbox I decided why not? But if you have time I'd watch it. Todd got some laughs out of it. It has a pretty good cast with Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, Katie Holmes, and Ted Dansen.

Anyway, so on Saturday my Uncle Claude and Aunt Shirlene came over for dinner. My Uncle Claude is my Grandpa Tuckett's brother. I've never met him until Todd and I moved up here. The past month or two we've gone over probably every other Sunday to visit. They love Todd. Shirlene is always talking him. When we moved they let us borrow their jeep so we could load more stuff. So we had them come over and see our new place. They're pretty funny. Todd and I have really enjoyed their company and getting to know them. After they left we went and visited Todd's friend Dave. His wife, Shelly, is from Ririe, ID and they were here visiting her family. We ended up playing Scene It most of the night. I never thought I really enjoyed that game, but we had a lot of fun. I don't know if it was just because of the people we were with or cause we actually played it right!

Sunday was beautiful. Nice weather. Just the right temp and the sun was out. It's rained all weekend so it was nice to have the sun out. We went to our new ward pretty much for the first time. Last week was ward conference and we left early so we didn't really get to meet anyone or introduce ourselves. When we got home we ended up watching Sandlot. I haven't watched that movie in forever.

Today we ended up going on a hike. We were told that we should go to the Palasides which is by Swan Valley. It was about an hour drive. Not too bad. The hike was about 4 miles that lead to a lake. We were hoping that today would be like Sunday, but unfortunately it was not. It started our nice though.

These pictures were taken during our drive. The scenery was beautiful. We talked about going back in a couple weeks when the weather's a little nicer.

This picture and the one below are of come cattle being herded. I've never actually seen that before.

Sorry, you can't really see it very well.

We followed a river the whole time. I believe it was called the Snake River, but I could be wrong.

During the drive we were on a little highway, but to get to the trailhead we had to turn onto a little dirt road. We were going along and all of a sudden I just yelled. Todd got scared and slammed on his breaks. This is what my screaming was because of.

I could not believe that there were peacocks!! They scared me half to death. Why, I have no clue. They were beautiful though. I've never been that close to one. I don't even know if I've seen them at a zoo before. I wanted them to spread their feathers, but no such luck.

The beginning of the hike. We were nice and dry. If you can tell, Todd was looking out for bears, so he says! (This is also the joys of going places with just two people. If you want a picture with the both of you, you get head shots!)

We walked along this river pretty much the whole time.

Some mountain views. In this one you can kind of see how low the clouds are.

About a hour, or so, into the hike it started to rain. We got under a tree and waited it out for a little bit, but then decided to go on. When it kept getting a little harder we decided to bring out the ponchos.

Very flattering huh?!

When we talked about taking them out, Todd didn't want to cause he didn't want to have to try and fold it back into the little bag it came in! He gave in though, but he opted out on putting the pants on. His loss.

These were some animal bones we found. Pretty cool.

And the last picture of the post, my rear end!! You can't really tell, but the picture is of my ripped pants. Todd noticed it when I bent over. When I asked when it happened he said when I bent over! Whatever. In my defense I was walking on the side of the trail half the time with the bushes and branches, so I'm hoping that's how they got ripped.

Needless to say we had a pretty good time. We didn't make it up to the lake. It just kept raining harder so we decided to turn around after about 2 hours or so. It was probably a good thing. The trail on the way back was muddy and very slippery, which I wasn't too happy about.

Now we're home relaxing and watching some American Gladiators!

Actual Moving Day

Here are some pictures from our actual moving day. Lucky for us it wasn't cold, but it got hot.

Here's Todd getting ready for the big day and our lovely living room.

Our moving day faces.

Todd loading the car

So these next pictures are of our bed. My mom bought us a really nice pillowtop mattress and somewhere during the moving it got messed up. Todd said it was no longer our pillowtop but our lumpy top bed.

We tried to do everything to get it out. We even went online to see if there was something but something that Todd read said there was nothing you could do about it. We were shaking it, pushing it. So Todd decided to cut holes. That is when I left the room. But it worked. The top is a temperpedic foam and it got all bunched up so he was able to get his hand in there and just pull it. We now have two holes on the sides of our bed, but no more lumps. Now I get to use my sewing skills and try to sew them back up.

All in all it was a nice day. Took forever but it was nice. My friend Shauna came and helped move all the big stuff with her truck and my Uncle Claude let us use his jeep. Both helped out tons. The jeep was able to fit a bunch more stuff in it than Todd's car. So now we are just getting everything put away!

Finally Moved In

We're finally moved in. I love it here. Todd and I both agree that it was a very good decision to move. It's nice to have extra room, and the people here are really nice. Last night we went to our first ward activity. They had a little bbq so went and met a couple new people. We're both really excited about the new ward. Everythings almost finished being put up and away. We're still sitting in camping chairs, but looking for a couch. Hopefully within the next week we'll find one that we both like. I'm excited to actually be able to have furniture. Anyway, here are a couple pictures we took last night. Things were still kind of all over the place so once we get things the way we like it I'll put up some more pictures.

Our Bedroom

I wish I could get a better picture of our room. You can't see it but on the right of the bed there's a little area where the closet is. Out of all the apartments we've lived in I think this has the biggest master bedroom.

Moving Day

Well tomorrow's the big moving day! Oh yeah. I'm truly excited, but at the same time I hate moving. We've gotten pretty much everything packed. We have our car already full and tomorrow we're borrowing my Uncle Claude's jeep to put more stuff in and my friend Shauna is bringing a truck to load all the big stuff! The good thing is that we're moving like a mile away so it wont be too bad. The funny thing is is that tomorrow's the first day that it's suppose to reach into the 80s! I found that amusing. The day we move it's going to be hot! At least it's not freezing and snowing like when we moved here. All I know is that we're not moving for a while. I truly hope not. I haven't stayed in one place for more than 6 months since I graduated high school pretty much. Oh well!

Magazine Faces

My friend, January, had this website on her blog. As you can tell I was having fun with it!

We're Moving!

We're moving! Everything went through smoothly and we'll be in a new apartment next Saturday. The couple that wanted our apartment came and signed everything over yesterday. I was a little nervous about the whole thing, but Todd calls me a worry wort so I guess it was only natural for me. Once everything was done it felt good. I know it's what we're suppose to be doing. We're going to have a lot more space, we're closer to campus, and I think the atmosphere there is better. We've only been to the complex a couple times, but it feels good to know that's where we're going to be. So we'll be packing and cleaning all week!

This isn't our exact building, but this is what all the buildings look like. This picture is from the Hyde Park Apartments website. Our apartment will be on the top right. I'm excited we're on the top floor again and not as many stairs!

Bargain Buy

I was informed that the cereal at Albertsons was on sale today so I thought I'd check it out. I was only going to get a couple boxes but I ended up buying 20! It only came to about $10. On the receipt it showed I saved $70! I was excited. Not many other people were very enthused, but oh well. Todd and I are now stocked up on cereal for awhile.

Hidden Camera

So tonight Todd started putting playlists on both here and his facebook. Well, there's one song he really likes now, and when Todd likes a new song he tends to play it over and over. At one point I looked over and saw him dancin to it. So I wanted to get a video of it. He caught me so I had to act like I was doing something else. I finally got him to start dancing again, but it was not as extreme. Just so ya know there's a spot where I'm trying to hide it from him. So here's what I got plus a little surprise at the end.

Well, I guess you can say we're already starting to make memories!

The Texas Tucketts

So I'm pretty much the only one in my family who just up and left Texas. Well, I didn't just up and leave. When I first graduated high school I went to Elmira, NY for a couple months. Then I went to school up in Rhode Island, and after a year transfered over to Denver. It was always nice cause I knew that even though I was away I would always be going back home. Those places weren't permanent. I always said that I wanted to move away from Texas, but now that I'm pretty much officially away I miss it more than ever. Oddly enough I miss things I never thought I'd miss.
  • I hated storms (and still do) but I miss a good rainstorm. I guess I should clarify, I hate storms where when you're watching T.V. and the weather men keep interrupting your show to tell you that a tornado is going to hit you any minute now! I've never been in a tornado, but we've had some pretty bad weather.
  • I miss the humidity. Never thought I'd say that, but I do. I have to apply loads of lotion on here cause it's so dry.
  • I miss the Tex Mex. I thought that no matter where I went mexican food would always be the same, but it's not. You can only find good Tex Mex in Texas.
  • I miss the warm weather. I thought I wanted to be where it snowed, but after a couple winters in snowy weather I'm ready to move back where it barely gets to freezing during the winter.
  • The one thing I miss the most that's in Texas is my family.
I know you're suppose to grow up and move on, but it's hard to be away. Like I said before, anytime that I was away I knew I'd be back soon. I love where I am with Todd, but sometimes I wish Texas wasn't so far away. But the best part is that no matter where I am I know my family is always there for me.
I have one of the best families anyone could ask for.
  • I have a sister who is such an amazing example to me and despite the past still loves me. I know whenever I need her I can just call her. When her and Dallin first got married I would love going over and having a girls night. We would end up watching old movies. And with her, and the help of my mother, I have learned many labor stories. I was usually in the car stuck between two car seats while her and my mom would talk about it! So maybe I'll be somewhat prepared when that time comes.
  • Scott can make anyone laugh. Once he walks in the room there's usually never a dull moment. I remember once when he was suppose to be watching me he fell asleep and I almost set the house on fire by burning my mom's crocheted tabled cloth. The smart person he was, he turned the whole to face the wall so my mom wouldn't notice! And then there's the time when he was watching me and Spencer and when asked to throw me the ranch dressing he literally threw me the ranch and it busted on the tile floor! So we cleaned the mess, taped the bottle and put it back in the fridge!!
  • Spencer pretty much taught me how to to defend myself with wrestling moves. No he's great guy and any girl that marries him is one lucky person. When I went to Elmira he probably doesn't realize it, or may not even remember, but he gave me the courage to stay because of an email that he sent me that I still keep.
  • Then there's my parents. My dad loves his kids and I know he would do anything for us. Once in elementary he helped me build a rocket out of medical supplies that he brought home from work. It was pretty sweet. He's someone that likes to spoil and now that his kids are grown he's spoiling his grandkids, especially with candy! And my mom. She has the biggest heart I know of. She has raised 4 amazing kids and many other's kids through her day care. Growing up I loved laying with her and watching Life Time movies! Most of all she has never given up on me.

My family has helped me to become who I am today. I love you guys. I truly can't wait till Todd and I will be able to have a family and create as many memories as we both have our own families. Maybe someday if the stars all align Todd will get into Vet school at A&M and we'll be back in Texas! But as for now we're enjoying creating our own memories in good ol Idaho!

New Classes, New Job, Maybe New Home?!

Well, Todd has been through almost 2 weeks of classes the semester. He is taking a math class, history, Book of Mormon, New Testament, and a Military training class. So far everything is looking good. He took his first math test today and got a 93.3! In his military training class he gets to do a lot of running, the first Wednesday they ran 3 1/2 miles. Every Wednesday is their long distant run. So Tim and Tom, Todd is getting a little glimpse of what you guys got to go through for boot camp!
Along with new classes Todd started a new job. Well, last week he started training for a phone marketing place and pretty much hated it. So he decided to go get a job on campus and is now a custodian for the boys dorms. Today was his first day. The best part...the hours are 4am to 7am! So he gets up goes to work, comes home, showers, and then we leave again for me to take him to school before I go to work. At least he's home in the evenings now. The other job he was working till 10 at night. I honestly didn't know what to do. It was kinda weird. After a day he enjoys it. He pretty much just goes around the dorms and checks everything. He's just glad he doesn't have to clean the bathrooms!
Anyway, so we might be moving to new apartments. We posted our lease on the BYU-I bulletin just to see if anyone would be interested in taking it over. Well, after a couple days some people came and checked out the apartment and pretty much said they wanted it. So we've been spending this week trying to find a place and decide on what we needed to do. But we both feel like the right thing to do is move. Our apartment is tiny, its only 538 square feet. It's a studio made into a one bedroom by putting up a wall. It's way expensive too. So the new one we found is a two bedroom and its the same price as what we're paying now. They're closer to campus, so when Todd has to walk to school it wont be as bad. I was a little hesitant by the set up but today we went and talked to the mangers and got to go into theirs and it really made me feel a lot better. It was just nice to see how someone else set their place up. It gave me some ideas to do! So now I'm really excited. All we're waiting for is the couple to sign a contract for our apartment. Once they do that I'll feel much better. I just don't want to move and then they back out. That would really stink. So we might be in a new place as soon as May 10th! The only bad part is moving out of here. The list the manager gave us, for our apartment, gave us is so extensive. The last place we lived all we had to do is just make sure everything was clean and decent, here you have to do everything plus they take a butt load of money out of your deposit. But oh well, we'll either move out now or in January so I'd rather just get it done with now. Hopefully we'll have some good news in a couple days and know if we get to move or not!
