Our Experience with PottyTraining

When we find out we were pregnant the second time I swore up and down I'd have Everett potty trained before the baby came.  I was going to start when he was 18 months old and we'd get it over and done with. I was a mom on a mission.

A year later and we are still not potty trained.  We've tried here and there, but I've never put my heart and soul into it.  After the Jacquelyn came life was crazy and that was the last thing I wanted to deal with.  So this past weekend I decided we were doing it once and for all. I went and bought Lightning McQueen underwear thinking it might encourage him a little more.  To start our day out we should him his new underwear to get the excitement going started. I don't think he quite understand what to do with them.  SO we took his diaper off and showed. Well he took the second pair and preceded to put them on his head! Oh goly, this was going to be a fun day!  We were going to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes and would sit awhile. Nothing.  At one point Everett just wanted to play with his new article of clothing so I decided to just let him have at it.  Well, he decided that he couldn't just wear ONE pair of underwear he need all THREE pairs!

After getting caught we captured some pretty hilarious pictures.  I don't know what this kid was doing! He started dancing all over the place.  I think these are more for our enjoyment then anything.

After thing settled down the fun started.  He wet two pairs of underwear one right after the other. We'd sit on the potty and the minute I'd take him off he'd pee.  But I was determined not to give. Boy did I want to, but Todd kept telling me it wasn't going to be easy and we had to stick with it!

Sunday morning I was refreshed and ready for a new day.  All morning nothing had happened so I decided to try a new tactic. I gave him a bunch of juice and milk.  He would sure have to go to the bathroom then! After about 20 minutes we went and sat on the potty again.  We sat and sat and sat.  I new he had to go cause he kept asking for his diaper to be put back on.  So we sat and sat.  To try and encourage him I gave him a little incentive

We could watch Wipeout.  It was quite the family affair in the bathroom!  Well we sat and sat.  Nothing. I just didn't understand.  We were in there for an hour until we had to get him off to go to church. Within 2 minutes of putting his church clothes on he went to the bathroom...in his diaper.  I almost started bawling!  The rest of the day we would put him on but still nothing. I don't understand this kid. He likes sitting on the toilet, but he does not like going to the bathroom there! So if anyone has any pointers we'd love to hear them!

At least this kid is pretty cute.  I mean who doesn't want to wear their snowboots while going potty?!

those pictures are hilarious!! love it. Once these diapers are gone for good - we're going to work on potty training. Letting her know diapers are gone and for 3 days we're staying home, not going anywhere and going to try it. I do have a strict "3 day potty training" method (im going to worry about day training, skip night training for now) if you want me to send it to you let me know!
