I could watch my kids sleep all day. They're just so peaceful. When I go to check on them there's nothing else going on and it just reminds me how grateful I am for them and it makes a stressful day a little more worth it. For awhile sleep was a little hard to come by in our home. Jacquelyn was waking up every few hours and then if she wasn't up Everett would be up crying. Our nap time was almost nonexistent. Jacquelyn would go for about 45 minutes or so and Everett, well he was stubborn and would not nap!
After much despair I broke down and told Todd I could not do it
anymore. I was constantly tired and frustrated about the littlest
things. It was not good on Todd either. We were both just worn out.
After talking with a friend, and getting some courage, we decided to let
Jacquelyn "cry it out". Can I just tell you it was the hardest 4-5 days
of my life, but it has been the best decision ever. We still have
nights were she will wake up, but she usually gets herself back to
sleep. Her naps are sooo much better. It's bliss. We are getting a
decent amount of sleep at night!
Before whenever you would check on her she would wake up the minute she heard you fiddle with the door. Now I can actually go in there put the blanket on back on her and actually check on her without worrying that I'd wake her. I caught a few pictures of her sleeping since our fun cry it out weekend.
I went to check on her sleeping while taking a nap. She just looked so cute. The day before she had her arms up behind her head, but I took too long getting the camera.
These were just a few days after our weekend. I went to check on her one morning surprised she was still sleeping. She had her little bum up in the air.
Not only has Jacquelyn been sleeping better, but so has Everett. He actually goes in and takes naps. On Tuesday we had been out and done a few things that morning so after lunch it was straight to bed. He happily walked right in and asked that I closed the door. I usually can hear him play for 20-30 minutes before he actually falls asleep. This time he wasn't up as long. When I went to check on him I found him with his book on his head. It must have been a good read!
It's amazing what sleep will do to a family. We have had less contention, stress, and frustration in our home. THe kids are happier and more cheerful! Sleep is bliss :)
