Our Texas Trip

***Beware for a very long post and loads of pictures***

We had the opportunity to go visit my family, in Texas, this past week.  It was much needed and way overdue.  I have been planning this since last fall.  So when Easter weekend came you can bet I was pretty excited.  I had been preparing Everett for the trip getting him all excited.  He was waiting to go see all his cousins. Most of his excitement came from getting to ride on the airplane.  We watched an episode of Calliu where he rides on a plane and since then that's all Everett could talk about.  I was a little nervous how things would go, but the ride was perfect!  He loved being on there, but the minute we were up in the air he passed out and Jacquelyn woke up! Our flight was at 6:00am and we had been up since 3:00am.  So needless to say we were all a little tired.  Unfortunately Jacquelyn fell asleep during takeoff and doesn't sleep very long when being held, but she did great the whole ride.

Once we got there we were able to hang out with family and rest.  Everett loved spending time with his cousin Cassady.  They are about 6 months apart and were so cute together. My mom had this little drum set that they played with together.  He was in heaven with all the new toys to play with.  Jacquelyn was a little leery of things at first.  She wasn't quite sure where she was and wasn't too fond of other people holding her.  But she slowly started to open up.  Eventually my mom would just have to take her and walk away just so she could hold her.

That evening we were able to just relax from our day, enjoy a nice little pizza dinner and everyone's company.  I was just glad to be home.  It had been a year and half since we had been back.  I think my favorite part was just being able to see my kids with family.  That's the hardest part about being so far away I think.  Everett knew who everyone was pretty much.  We have a little book that has pictures of all the cousins so he's been learning. He would get excited when we would talk about who we were going to see.

The weather was beautiful!  The week before Dallas had some pretty bad storms and the reports showed it was suppose to rain all that week.  Luckily we didn't have any.  It was nice and warm and sunny. My sister and her kids came over to visit and go swimming.  I wasn't sure what Everett would do at first.  He really hasn't even been swimming before.  Once he saw all the kids going in he wanted part of it too.  A few minutes later he came down and was naked and ready to go out! He seriously almost ran right out there with nothing on.  So we got him all suited up and ready to go.

But it didn't last long.  He did not want clothes on.  So he proceeded to just take his clothes off and then play.  Although he did not want to get in the pool.  It was still a bit chilly.

We've been trying to get Everett to go potty, but it has yet to happen.  So when my nephew went to the side of the pool we thought maybe it'd get Everett to do something.  It was pretty comical to watch.  Everett went right over to look at what Porter was doing.

The rest of us sat on the side and enjoyed the weather.

Jacquelyn was able to cuddle up with her Aunt Sarah.

Our cute cousin Jaxson.  He was born just a few months after Jacquelyn.  This trip was the first time we were able to meet him.  He is seriously the cutest thing.  My brother and sister in law just moved back to Dallas and are staying with my parents for a little bit. So we were able to spend lots of time with them!

That night Everett was able to go home with my sister and spend some time with his cousins.  They played cars, ran around with light sabers, took baths, played more cars.  He was having a blast.  While he was playing my mom, Todd, and I went shopping.  It was nice! I miss the shops back home. Sad I know, but I do :)

Tuesday was another low key day. That morning Everett was able to hang out with my mom's daycare kids.  He was a little unsure of it at first, but he enjoyed being able to play outside with them.

We were all enjoying the weather.  Everett loves being outside and he was able to be outside a lot!
That evening my parents let me and Todd go out on a date.  It was quite nice as we haven't been on one in quite a while.  We went and saw The Hunger Games.  I loved it and can't wait for the rest!

Wednesday April 11, 2012

When we were out Monday night we bought Everett a Cars kite.  We were suppose to go to a park and fly it, but Everett had enough fun with it just out in front of the house.  He was running like crazy and would get a little lift on it.

Earlier in the day Todd and I were out driving around and I realized how much I loved the neighborhood I grew up in.  While I was out with Everett I snapped a picture of my house.

I love it.  And miss it...

Later that night we continued our shopping.  Everett and Jacquelyn came along this time while Todd stayed at home.

Thursday April 12, 2012

We had been telling Everett about Thursday all week.  Grandpa was taking us to the Dallas Zoo.  Everett was so excited!  Before we left we were able to hang out with Jaxson a little before Todd and Grandpa were ready.

When we first got there he was running to get in!

Every animal we would look at he would just point and start talking.

At the beginning they had a bird show going on and we caught it right on time.  It was a pretty neat show.  They had all different kinds that would fly right over us.  It was pretty fun watching Everett's expressions as they would fly over.

After the show we continued on to the rest of the animals.

He kept calling this hog a pig and would say "oink, oink".

We went to the children's zoo, but it was lacking a little.  They didn't have much out.

The zoo has this little tram that we were able to go ride.  We thought Everett would love it.  But since he had to be contained for 20 minutes he passed out!

Everett woke up in time to see the rest of the animals and ride the on the "horsey".

We had such a good time and are glad that we were able to spend some time with Grandpa!

Friday April 13 - Sunday April 15

Friday began our 1st Annual Tuckett Family Reunion.  We were able to stay at lake house in Granbury, Texas.  We went down Friday morning with my dad and met up with my sister and her family.  Later that night everyone else showed upWe enjoyed my sisters delicious sloppy joes and later a night of popcorn and games.

Saturday we spent the majority of morning hanging out.  Some would go and fish on the dock, or play horse shoes, or just sit on the deck chatting.  We played Just Dance, the kids rolled down the hill, and flew kites.  Everett was once again having a blast playing with all his cousins.  It was so fun to see them all together and how they all interact.

 The Kids flying their kites

Cousins. They're 1 month apart.  Can you tell this girl did not feel good.
That afternoon began the real fun!  We brought out the bathing suits and hit the lake.  There was a rope swing on the top dock.  We all wanted to try it, but sadly all were just a little too hesitant.  My brother Scott would just go and run and jump of the top, but he couldn't use the rope swing.  It was so funny.  It wasn't until my brother in law, Dallin, just did it.  Once he did we all went.  It took some a little longer then others, but most of us finally tried it.

The little kids hung out in their own swimming pool with Grammy.  Henry enjoyed his little snooze.

Scott trying to decide what to do.
This was after I had just jumped off the top.

Julie's first go on the rope swing.  Then we were all getting Baden out of the lake.

 Jordan's turn.
Scottie just kept going and going.
I went once.  When I did I jumped off, which was not smart.  I didn't even swing.  Once the rope came down it just dropped me!  It got quite the laugh out of everyone though.
Jaxson hanging out with his dad.
Grammy helping the kiddos back up.

Ella was the last one to jump and she was a star!

My sister was the amazing creator for our whole weekend.  She truly was amazing!  For that night she had put together a Minute To Win It game night.  We had so much fun!  We competed boys against girls and the boys won. It was a close game though!

Sarah put these bags up and Everett went right over saying "chicken nuggets"
 Jacquelyn and her Grammy

Cassady and Everett wanted to join in on the fun.  They didn't do too bad either!
Julie was a pro at stacking the chapsticks
 Scottie on the other hand....
 Everett taking his turn

After the kids went down Dallin popped some more popcorn and we played  a round of Logos before heading off to bed.

Sunday we were able to hang out a little more while cleaning and getting ready to go.  The boys all got toy helicopters and played with them all weekend.  It was quite comical to watch.  Spencer and especially Scott were way into it.  Todd and Dallin were saving theirs for later when they wouldn't get destroyed :)  Scott was flying his on the dock when it sadly landed in the lake and was lost. He was pretty devastated.
Everett found the girls dress up toys.  He was having a blast.  His dad wasn't too thrilled :)

Monday April 16, 2012

Monday was our last day.  We were suppose to leave that day, but where we fly stand by all the flights were completely booked.  So instead of waiting around at the airport hoping we get on a flight we just pushed it off till Tuesday.  I'll admit I wasn't sad about it at all.  I'm sure Todd wasn't as thrilled as I was though.  Classes started back up on Tuesday for him.

We hung around that morning and finished getting laundry done so we could pack.  Everett thought he was king of the house.  With all the other daycare kids he had a few more privileges then the others.

That afternoon we met up with my sister and her kids to say our goodbyes.  We were able to go play at the park till they had to pick up Baden.  Then we just hung out at her place for a bit till it was time to go.

I can't believe how big those kids are.  When I first left for school Ella was a baby and Porter wasn't even born yet.  Time goes by way too fast.  I've missed seeing them grow up, but it was nice spending the time we had with them.  Everett loved spending time with his cousins.  Baden and Porter gave him some of their old cars and he was thrilled.  When we got back to my parents house he took the bag and just started playing with them.  Since we've been home that's the majority of what he plays with still.  When he wakes up he gets his new cars, when we come home he gets his new cars.  He loves those boys.  He keeps asking to go back to Porter's house and he's been having to wear clothes that my sister gave us that were Baden and Porter's.

We ended our last night with my parents, Spencer, Jordan, and Jaxson.  We enjoyed some delicious pizza and watched our shows together.

Tuesday April 17, 2012

It was take off day which was hard.  When we leave there are always tears.  And lots of them.  I keep telling myself it'll be ok, and I keep thinking it'll just get easier and easier.  But nope.  I'll admit I have gotten better.  I use to start crying the night before now it's just a few hours before :)  Once we said our goodbyes we headed to the airport to head home.  Everett was excited to fly once again and this time actually stayed awake the entire time.

Unfortunately so did Jacquelyn. She was so tired, but she does not do well with sleeping in your arms.  Besides the fact that she was still running a low fever from her teeth.  She had at least 4 coming through.  But we made it.  Our drive from Salt Lake to Rigby flew by.  Once we were home it was back to reality.  I was homesick once again wishing we could just go back. Now we just have to start saving so our next visit isn't so far away.  Everett to this day is still talking about his cousins which I love.  I want him to always remember them and want to go back!
